Lex Nautica PLLC is an immigration law firm based in Seattle, Washington. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you visit lexnautica.com and related pages controlled by Lex Nautica PLLC (the Site).

This Privacy Policy primarily applies to information collected through the Site. Information collected in the course of legal representation may also be governed by our engagement agreement, professional duties of confidentiality, applicable court rules, ethics rules, and other legal obligations.


No Attorney-Client Relationship Through Website Use

Submitting information through the Site does not create an attorney-client relationship. An attorney-client relationship is formed only when Lex Nautica PLLC and the client sign a written engagement agreement.

We treat information submitted through the Site with care and do not intentionally disclose it except as described in this Privacy Policy. However, until an attorney-client relationship is established, please do not submit confidential, privileged, or time-sensitive information through the Site.

Where appropriate, service providers are subject to contractual obligations regarding confidentiality, security, and appropriate use of information. Government agencies, courts, regulators, and law enforcement are not service providers and may use information according to their own legal authority.

We do not share your email address with third parties for their own marketing purposes.


Marketing Communications

If you submit a contact form, schedule a consultation, or become a client, we may occasionally send firm news, legal updates, or information about services that may be relevant to you. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the email or by contacting us at privacy@lexnautica.com.

We do not send unsolicited commercial email to people who have not contacted us first, unless otherwise permitted by law.


Cookies, Analytics, Advertising, and SEO

The Site may use cookies, pixels, tags, and similar technologies for Site functionality, security, analytics, advertising measurement, and search engine optimization.

Automated Decision-Making and AI-Assisted Tools

We do not use automated decision-making, profiling, or AI-based screening to determine whether to accept a prospective client or whether someone is eligible for legal services. Consultation and representation decisions are made by a licensed attorney.

We may use AI-assisted tools for administrative or legal-support tasks, such as document organization, transcription, research, drafting assistance, or workflow support, under attorney supervision and consistent with our professional obligations of confidentiality and competence. We do not knowingly use AI-assisted tools in a way that permits providers to use client confidential information to train public models unless the client has consented or the use is otherwise permitted by applicable professional obligations.


Data Retention

We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy and consistent with legal, professional, and operational obligations.

  • Client and matter records: generally retained for seven (7) years after closure of the matter, or longer where required by law, court rule, professional obligation, client agreement, or firm risk-management policy.
  • Inquiry submissions that do not result in representation: generally deleted within twenty-four (24) months unless a longer period is reasonably necessary for conflicts, risk management, legal compliance, or another legitimate purpose.
  • Server logs: generally retained for a limited period for security and operational purposes.
  • Analytics and advertising data: retained according to the settings and policies of the applicable analytics or advertising provider and our configuration of those services.

You may request deletion by contacting privacy@lexnautica.com. If deletion conflicts with legal, professional, or record-retention obligations, we will explain the basis for continued retention where appropriate.


Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information. Regardless of jurisdiction, Lex Nautica generally honors reasonable requests to:

  • Request a copy of personal information we maintain about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of information, subject to legal and professional retention obligations
  • Withdraw consent for non-essential processing, where consent is the basis for processing
  • Opt out of certain marketing communications

California residents may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, including the right to:

  • Request deletion of personal information
  • Correct inaccurate personal information

Lex Nautica is located in the United States and the Site is intended primarily for users in the United States. If you visit the Site from outside the United States, information collected through the Site may be processed and stored in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.

Records may be transferred to a successor firm or records custodian bound by appropriate confidentiality and professional obligations, returned to the client where appropriate, or securely destroyed consistent with applicable obligations.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The Last Updated date will reflect the most recent version. If we make material changes, we may highlight the changes on the Site or provide additional notice where appropriate.
